Hi All

All of a sudden last month after the Win 8 startup when i click the desktop icon the startup programs start at that time every time one notepad opens up stating the b/m message.
"
[.ShellClassInfo]LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787
"

Can you plese tell me how i can get rid of this notepad error appearing every time i restart my system.

Thank you

Regards

Oh bugger! Apologies.. I'll have a look at your issue again.

In the meantime try running the system file checker. Right click in the bottom left hand corner of the desktop and from the menu choose admin command prompt. Type:

sfc /scannow

Press enter and await results. If it finds any corrupt files it will attempt to fix them.
Hi Dext,

try the solutions offered in this Microsoft support page:

Dear Kemical

The MS support page states that this solution is for Windows XP only , also i tried to remove from startup but there is no such dektop instance in the startup.

Even the b/m folders are not present in Win 8 where they tell you to delete the desktop.ini file from, can you please advise

  • drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
  • drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
  • drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
