Women’s rights group Sisters Uncut have occupied Holloway Prison in London.

The group has a history of eye-catching protests, including turning Trafalgar Square’s fountains red and storming the red carpet at the premier of Suffragette.

Activists ‘reclaimed’ the old visitor’s centre after reports the former women’s prison in North London was going to be demolished, and turned into a £2billion block of luxury flats.

On a banner, unfurled by the group on the side of the building, they said: ‘This is public land – our land. We don’t want luxury flats and homeless spikes.

‘We demand actual affordable hosing and a women’s building.’
