Windows 7 Sporadic BSOD

Hi Guys,

Been having very sporadic BSOD's for months now and I've tried everything I can think of and more. The BSOD message just says check for recently installed hardware and the error codes is just a load of zeros but up until a few weeks ago I had not replaced any parts.

I've updated all the drivers I can find, flashed my BIOS up to the latest non-beta version, turned off overclocking, basically set all my BIOS settings back to default. I've opened the PC, cleaned out the dust, checked to makes sure everything is securely in place, run diags, defragged my HD, used Wise Registry Cleaner (Free version) to tidy up my registry.

The PC came with Vista Premium pre-installed so I bought Windows 7 and ran the full upgrade option when installing to do a clean install. I thought this had cracked it as I didn't have another for a couple of months but then they started again.

I regularly update and run Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware and have AVAST running all the time to stop nasty little hobbitses invading my system. I've checked with the AMD and ASUS websites to see if there's any newer version of drivers for my processor and Mobo but they don't seem to have anything, or they don't support them any more, I'm unsure.

As a last course of action I replaced my memory a few weeks ago. I wanted to upgrade anyway so swapped them with new sticks and even tried pairing them up in different slots to see if this made any difference but it hasn't

The other day I had a serious BSOD and my PC would not boot up. I had to put the WIN7 dvd in and run recover/repair procedures but this has not stopped the sporadic ones.

There's no pattern to the BSOD's apart from it always happens when running applications or games. If I just have the OS running or am surfing the internet it's fine. When it does happen it can be after 10 minutes of game play or I can play for several hours without a single one.

I hope you can help. I've attached all the files requested.

RAM timings look wrong. Load setup defaults in the bios.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

Your RAM is currently set 752 Mhz. Take care of this first.
Sorry not sure what this means? Any pointers as to what the problem is and how I fix it?

EDIT - I've looked at my BIOS settings and it's set to AUTO for my RAM- Says it's running at 800MHZ - I changed it from AUTO to 800 MHZ in the settings. Is this ok or should I set it to a lower setting?

I'll uninstall Ad-aware but I only installed this a few days ago. I've tried disabling AVAST previously and the BSOD's still happened but I'll do this as well.

I'll see if I can find that driver and I'll uninstall RapportCerberus - Ty for the advice!

800Mhz should be fine.

I've tried disabling AVAST

Do not disable --> uninstall.

My rig lasted about half an hour playing Warcraft before it BSOD on me.

I've attached updated documents. Any more suggestions would be welcome!

Still running 752Mhz, not what it's rated - is it?

Uninstall Lavasoft Ad-aware.

RAM is the problem because it is set wrong.

Enter bios setup to set the DRAM options in strict accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

You can find the specs written on your RAM sticks, RAM package, or on the RAM manufacturer's web site.

Additionally remove TeaTimer. Spybot Search and Destroy is an excellent product but the TeaTimer addon is a pain, generally annoying and know to cause some issues. You may have to remove the whole product can't remember for sure, but if you do, when you do a new install of Spybot, do a custom and deselect TeaTimer. Just one more suggestion from the peanut gallery.

Now I'm confused lol. I have no idea how to setup memory in in my BIOS, everything is set to default so it's all on Auto atm.

I've been to Crucial.com who I bought it from and cannot find anything helpful but I've left a post on their forums

Oddly enough the CPU-Z program states the memory is PC2-6400 when they are 2 2Gb PC2-8500 CL5 EPP memory. So either there's a problem with the tool or I've been sent memory which says it's PC2-8500 on the stick but is actually PC2-6400. It's going to be hard working out what settings to use when I'm no longer sure what memory I have installed.

RAM specs can be found written on the sticks themselves, RAM package, or on the RAM manufacturer's web site.

According to CPU-Z, this is DDR800 4-4-4-12. Rammon will most likely detect the same.

Hardware ID tools are known to be wrong sometimes, so if you know your exact specs please tell us.

You need to find out:

Frequency
Timing
Voltage

Once you know your RAM specs exactly, enter bios setup to set the DRAM options in strict accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
