Is it dxgmms1.sys that's causing it? I just updated my Nvidia driver but this has happened before.Link Removed

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis: Link Removed

Please turn off Driver Verifier. It is not yet necessary, and in this case it blames a Windows driver. In most cases like this, it's either:
- a problematic driver exiting before the crash occurs (so you can't see which driver it is)
- a hardware problem
- a Windows problem

IMO the most likely cause here is RivaTuner/EVGA Precision/MSI Afterburner. Please un-install it and see if that solves the problem.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Remember John, sometimes 0xC4 bugchecks can occur on Windows 7 and later platforms even with DV disabled, because some C4 checks are active always.

DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (c4)
A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught. This is
because the driver was specified in the registry as being suspect (by the
administrator) and the kernel has enabled substantial checking of this driver.
If the driver attempts to corrupt the system, bugchecks 0xC4, 0xC1 and 0xA will
be among the most commonly seen crashes.

Yah, no DV.

Anyways, this crash is very consistent with that which I've been witnessing from a lot of people recently (since early December) using Nvidia graphics cards. I thought there would be some bugfix by now but apparently the problem still goes on, so I'm not sure if there's anything bigger causing all this. I'll add this dump to my collection to find any patterns. So far I believe it happens most with 310.xx and later driver versions, that's at least my speculation so far.

Aside from that, Usasma asked that you remove the Precision software as opposed to updating it. Please do so. Such software has a propensity for harboring bugs. I also found some Razer joystick driver in the offending callstack of this crash. Razer drivers have an awful history of being very buggy, and often times it's necessary to remove them when permitting. If you wish, update your Razer drivers since they're dated from Mar 24, 2011 (update firmware too if available). If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the drivers and see if your Razer product still functions. Often times the Razer drivers are superfluous, and only add nonessential functions to the hardware.

For giving us a further look at this, turn on Link Removed and send us any crashdumps caused by it. Read the article completely.

Thanks Vir Gnarus! I'd forgotten about that!

New BSOD STOP 0X0000007F. I have uninstalled EVGA Precision X. I will uninstall Razor drivers if more BSOD.

EVGA Precision/Riva Tuner/MSI Afterburner is installed in this memory dump also (RTCore64.sys). Please be sure that it's un-installed.

Please remove Asus Charger Driver (AICharger.sys) as it can cause BSOD's. If needed, you can reinstall the latest version after the system is made stable again.

Update the NEC Electronics USB 3.0 drivers - the 2010 version is known to have BSOD issues in some systems.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Just noticed that Zone Alarm is also in the memory dump (vsdatant.sys). Please un-install it to see if that's the cause - and be sure to enable the Windows Firewall while testing.

It happened again. I have updated the BIOS and most of the drivers using Windows updates and via ASUS website. It seems dxgmms1.sys BSOD is common on the internet. It seems to be related to video card. Is it necessary to update other unrelated drivers or software?

dxgmms1.sys is a DirectX driver and is associated with the video sub-system on your computer.
We don't focus on just the video card because all programs access the video in some way - so it's necessary to ensure that all potential problems are fixed.

DO NOT USE WINDOWS UPDATE TO UPDATE DRIVERS!!!
Windows Update doesn't contain the latest versions of drivers.

Only use the Asus website to update Asus programs

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

1) Remove Alcohol 120% software. It (and Daemon Tools) are known to cause BSOD's on Windows systems. Use these instructions (it's important to remove the offending sptd.sys driver with the removal tool).
Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL] Link Removed [/DEL] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): Link Removed (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disc-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

Quite frankly, I'd remove the above program and driver and then test the system to see if it stabilizes. If it does, then great, if not then try the rest of the stuff I mention below:

1) Download and install this driver to update the first 2 drivers on the below list: Link Removed. It will not update the Si3132r5.sys driver as it's the latest Win7 version.

2) Remove the Remote Anywhere/LogMeIn programs and drivers as they are very old

3) Remove the TV/Video editing stuff temporarily (to see if it stops the BSOD's)

4) Rocket Raid driver is the most current, don't change it.

5) Uninstall the Asus Charger program - it has been known to cause BSOD's

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I don't have Alcohol 120% software, Daemon Tools, AI Charger, SPTD on my PC. I uninstall them a while ago, I guess the uninstall program didn't delete these files. Should I delete them manually?
The link you provided for Silicon Image is the same driver version 1.5.19.0 as on my PC, I'm unable to update.
My LogMeIn software is the latest version. My FusionHDTV 3 software is latest too.
I will check what video editing software I have and uninstall it.

Please do not delete them manually - it may render your system unbootable.

For the sptd.sys driver, use the link for the 64 bit tool from here: Link Removed
Run the tool by double clicking on it and select "Un-install"

Do not worry about the AI Charger driver at this time - if needed I'll provide instructions on how to safely remove it.

Did the Silicone Image software refuse to update when you tried to install it?

Although your LogMeIn software is the latest version, it's drivers date from 2007 and 2008 - before Win7 was released.
Please uninstall it for testing purposes - you can always reinstall it later on.

The same goes for the FusionHDTV 3 software. We rule out 3rd party driver problems by removing older software in order to test.

In short what we do is we fix all "potential" problems with 3rd party software - either by updating it, or by removing it.
Once we've done ALL of that, then we're relatively sure that the problem isn't software - and so we move onto hardware problems (and then onto Windows problems).
