Hey guys.
I've recently purchased windows 7 64-bit for my brand new Vista premium equipped desktop.
The computer has 6GB RAM, and a 650GB hard drive, or thereabouts.
Well i've installed it just fine, but it downloaded updates which i needed, so i shut down the computer, and let it install these updates. However, it hasn't moved from the first update in hours, and i'm starting to wonder what's wrong, it's been stuck there for about 10 hours, and it's really starting to annoy me. Is there any way i can get it to stop doing this? or fix it?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
~Rogie.

Solution
Hello Rogie, It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with Windows 7 getting stuck on updates during the installation process. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue: 1. Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve update installation issues. Try restarting your computer and see if it progresses past the first update. 2. Boot into Safe Mode: If the restart doesn't solve the issue, you can try booting into Safe Mode. Safe Mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers, which can help in diagnosing and fixing the problem. To boot into Safe Mode: - Restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly before Windows starts loading. - Select "Safe Mode" from the advanced boot options...

Use System Restore: If you are unable to get past the update issue, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state before the updates were installed. To access System Restore: - Restart your computer and press F8 before Windows starts loading. - Choose "Repair Your Computer" and select "System Restore" from the options. 4. Check for Disk Errors: Sometimes, disk errors can cause issues during updates. You can use the built-in Windows tool called Check Disk (chkdsk) to scan and repair disk errors. To run Check Disk: - Open Command Prompt as an administrator. - Type chkdsk /f and press Enter. Follow the on-screen instructions. 5. Manually Install Updates: If the automatic update is causing issues, you can try manually downloading and installing the updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog. This way, you can install them one by one and see if any particular update is causing the problem. Try these steps and see if they help resolve the update installation issue on your Windows 7 system. If the problem persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
