I installed Windows 7 over Vista and since then every time i try copying anything to my two portable hardrives or a memory card, the computer crashes and it says "system dump". I am having to send everything over to another computer via home network and then copying the file from it. This makes it hard to backup all my files weekly.

    anyone have a solution?

system crashes when copying files to any USB storage device

Are these all USB devices? Have you tried updating the drivers for the USB, which may mean the chipset drivers?

Are these devices plugged in one at a time? Are you running any special USB devices like some type of hub or gaming system?

    Yes, all USB devices
it shows al drivers are up to date
yes, one one plugged in at a time
    No, nothing special
