Windows 7 Tethering with Windows 7, is it possible?

I recently went from a Windows Vista Notebook to a Windows 7 Notebook. Tethering has always been easy with Windows Vista and my T-Mobile HTC Dash 3G. But now with Win 7, no WiFi on/off switch, connecting to the Win 7 Notebook by USB, and going through the same steps: Start>Device Management>Internet Sharing>Connect; brings no good result. I tried turning off the Notebook Network Adapter by going to the Device Manager; it did not help. What is the solution? What do I need to do in Win 7 to make a tethering connection using my Smart Phone?
