Solution
To resolve the issue with accessing shared files between your two Windows 7 computers, where you are encountering a permission error, you can follow these steps:

Adjusting File and Printer Sharing Permissions:

  1. Check Sharing Settings:
    • Verify that the folders you are trying to access are shared on the network.
    • Right-click on the folder you want to share, go to "Properties," choose the "Sharing" tab, and ensure that the folder is shared.
    []Shared Folder Permissions:
    • Go to the shared folder's properties, click on the "Sharing" tab, then on the "Advanced Sharing" button.
    • Check the permissions to see if the Everyone group is included with at least "Read" permissions.

      Adjusting Network Discovery Settings:

    [
]Ensure Network Discovery is Turned On:
    • Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings.
    • Make sure that network discovery and file sharing are turned on.

      Checking User Account Permissions:

    []Ensure Correct User Permissions:
    • Make sure you have the necessary permissions to access the shared resources.
    • You can create a new user account on both computers with the same username and password for easier access.

      Firewall and Antivirus Software:

    [
    ]Firewall Settings:
    • Check Firewall settings to ensure they are not blocking file sharing.
    • Temporarily disable the firewall to check if it's causing the issue.

      Network Location Setting:

[]Set Network Location to Home Network:
    • Change the network location to a "Home Network" on both computers. This can sometimes resolve sharing issues.

      Additional Checks:

    [
    ]Restart the Computers:
    • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve network sharing issues.
  2. Try Accessing via IP Address:
    • Instead of using the computer name, try accessing the shared folder using the IP address (e.g., \192.168.1.2\sharedfolder). By following these steps and ensuring proper permissions and settings, you should be able to resolve the issue of not being able to access files between your Windows 7 computers on the network. If you continue to experience issues, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
