Windows Vista undeletable jpg files

Hi all,,,,,,,,,,,Could someone help with this please?.
I have an acer laptop and I tried to find and delete unwanted jpg files.
I found some to do with a prog I had deleted but it wont let me delete them.
The message says the folder that the file was in has been deleted and do I want to
make another one and if I reply no it does nothing. So how do I get rid of them as
I have a few?.
