Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

Upgrade Advisor will not run on my laptop. I get a message that says an unexpected error has occurred and I should reinstall Upgrade Advisor. Reinstalling does not help. I think the laptop should be a candidate for upgrade. It's a Dell Vostro 1700 a little over a year old, running the latest version of Vista. I'm concerned that if the Advisor won't run I'll have a problem with Win 7 running. Any ideas on what's going on? Thanks.

Are there 32 and 64 bit versions of the advisor?

Could any spyware, etc. be blocking it?

Do you have any external devices plugged in?

Good question about 32/64. I don't know the answer but a copy of Upgrade Advisor that I downloaded from the same place ran fine on my desktop, and that is 32 bit like my laptop. I should be clean and up-to-date on Sypware, viruses, etc. No external devices plugged in.
