i recently upgraded my laptops RAM from 2GB to 4GB but only 2.93GB is usable. i started reading around and i found out that it was because im running 32bit windows 7 and not 64bit. so i wanted to know if there is anyway of changing from 32bit to 64bit without paying for windows 7 as my windows 7 came already installed on the laptop.

Hello and welcome to the forums.
The short answer is no.
At least none that I know of. As a matter of fact you can't really upgrade from Windows 7 32bit to Windows 7 64bit. It requires a complete clean custom install, which would require that you backup all of your critical data safely to an external resource and then booting from the 64bit install media installing the OS like new and then reinstalling all your programs and then moving your data back over from the backup.
I hope this answers your question
Kind Regards
Randy
