I was just thinking about this so what is better for a keyboard and mouse. Connecting it via USB or PS2. I cannot really think that the operation of these devices should really be different either way.

What is better? Better at what?

There is no better or worse in this case. If your motherboard supports both, the "performance" will be the same. But PS/2 is being phased out, and eventually, PS/2 will go the way of the floppy. If in the market for a new mouse or keyboard, I suspect it would be very difficult to find a PS/2 only version. In the meantime, if your motherboard supports PS/2, simple adapters can be used, and are often supplied with new keyboards and mice.

That said, I always keep a PS/2 keyboard handy - just in case I need to boot to DOS.

I don't think it makes a lot of difference anymore....
Nowaday, most PS2 Ports are internally connected to USB.
