Hi everyone
anybody know a good Virtual Desktop application for X-64. The excellent Sys - internals desktop.exe version doesn't work in 64 bit builds -- the 2nd etc desktop just shows the background secreen without any apps and you can't get the "Orb" to launch any applications.

(Logging off / on brings you back to the initial desktop - you don't need to do an entire re-boot - athough with W7 doesn't take long anyway).

It's flagged as an incomapatble application unfortunately and on testing this proves to be the case.

cheers
jimbo

Hello Jimbo, It sounds like you're looking for a good virtual desktop application that works well on 64-bit systems. Since the Sysinternals Desktops tool isn't functioning as expected on 64-bit builds, there are a few alternatives you can consider. Here are some popular virtual desktop applications that are compatible with 64-bit systems: 1. Windows 10 Virtual Desktops: Windows 10 comes with a built-in virtual desktop feature that allows you to create and switch between multiple desktops. You can access this feature by pressing Win + Ctrl + D to create a new virtual desktop and switch between them using Win + Ctrl + Left/Right arrow keys. 2. Dexpot: Dexpot is a third-party virtual desktop application that works...

Dexpot: Dexpot is a third-party virtual desktop application that works well on 64-bit systems. It offers a range of features including customizable desktops, window previews, hotkeys for switching between desktops, and more. 3. Virtual Desktop: Virtual Desktop is another option that provides a versatile virtual desktop experience on Windows. It supports multiple monitors, custom environments, and allows you to create separate desktops for different tasks. 4. Sysinternals Desktops (Alternative): While the Sysinternals Desktops tool you mentioned may have compatibility issues, there might be updated versions or alternatives available that work better on 64-bit systems. You can check for newer releases or similar tools from Sysinternals or other developers. These are just a few options to consider for virtual desktop applications on your 64-bit system. Each of these tools offers different features and customization options, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs. If you need more specific recommendations or assistance with setting up a particular virtual desktop application, feel free to ask!
