thewolfe Senior Member May 16, 2013 #1 I have found "cve-2012-1889" in the Control Panel in Programs. Looks like it may be a bad guy. Is it, what does it do, and how do I get rid of it?

Pauli Extraordinary Member Premium Supporter May 23, 2013 #2 It has to do with Microsoft XML core services. From what I've studied, it is malicious, and may cause trouble. Microsoft has published a cure for it = check if you have any critical / important updates missing. It's originally from July 2012, Microsoft Security Advisory (2719615): Vulnerability in Microsoft XML Core Services Could Allow Remote Code Execution, meaning that if you have updates in order --- it shouldn't be a problem "anymore". More info in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS12-043 - Critical : Vulnerability in Microsoft XML Core Services Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2722479) To make a long story short: CHECK your updates.

thewolfe Senior Member May 23, 2013 #3 Thanks for the post. I do update regularly and did run every scan in the book, changed a bunch of passwords and prayed a lot. The computer doesn't have any glitches so I'm going on with life.
