Vista Premium-Microsoft E-mail Attach problems

I am such a computer illiterate, it is embarassing, but I need help. I can't send an attachment from my Microsoft Word to an e-mail recipient. When I had Windows XP, I could click on the file, send to and "mail recipient or mail recipient attachment" would show up. Now that I have Vista Premium, it says "fax recipient or Micro soft power". Hoping someone can help me. If I am not on the right help page, please direct me in the right direction.

If you have the file open in Microsoft Word that you want to send as a email attachment, simply click on the image of the letter with paper clip from the icons at top of page (fourth from the left in my Works version). This should take you to your email compose/create message page. The file should already be attached to the page.
