Windows Vista Vista resolution problems

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop with the following specifications:

Vista Home Premium
Intel 2 Duo T7200 2 GHz processor
2 GB RAM

When I open the laptop's lid the resolution reverts to 1024x768 which stretches the display and cuts the sides off. I have to manually reset the resolution to my preferred setting which is 1280x800 each time.

I've contacted Dell about this who suggested I downloaded the latest video and BIOS drivers from their site which I've done. They went on to say if the problem persists then it is a Windows Vista problem and there's nothing that can be done until an update is released. This problem is driving me mad and I've posted it on a couple of other forums but had no response. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any advice or can confirm they've heard of this problem before.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Jon,

Perhaps if you email Dell support too it you might come back with something different.

Yep

Same here with my rather simple Dell inspiron.

I have changed the properties of the swith off button in the start menu to shutdown in stead of stanby.

this untill a solution is given to our problem.
