I'm using Windows 11 Home. Voice typing (activated by depressing Windows key + H) works great--but it times out after 10 minutes. I've tried it on Word 2021 and Notepad with the same results. Is there any way to change it so it won't time out?

Solution
In some cases, Windows voice typing sets a time out limit for continuous speech recognition. This is a built-in feature that's designed to optimize system resources and prevent the speech recognition software from running indefinitely. Unfortunately, there is no direct setting within Windows to adjust or disable this timeout limit for voice typing. However, you can try the following workarounds to potentially extend the duration of voice typing: 1. Use Dictation Software: Consider using third-party dictation software that may have more advanced customization options, including longer session times. 2. Use Voice Typing Tools: External voice typing tools like Dragon NaturallySpeaking can be used to dictate longer passages...

Check Settings in Specific Apps: Some applications may have their own settings related to voice typing timeout. Check within the specific application settings to see if there are options to adjust or disable this feature. 4. Script Voice Commands: For continuous dictation, consider breaking your content into segments and using voice commands to save the content periodically before the timeout occurs. While these workarounds may help you dictate longer passages without being interrupted by the timeout, it's worth noting that extending or disabling the timeout for native Windows voice typing may not be directly possible without access to the internal settings of the system.
