Today i have bought a new laptop N55sf 1060V , and everything is perfect , runs smoothly and it's really fast! the only problem is that when i tried to send it to hibernation / suspension it gets stuck : the screen turns black as it should be but the fan keeps running and it doesn't shut down properly , lights are still on and you can hear it running.
after like 10 minutes of blackness , a bsod pops out saying power state failure and the sistem shuts down and the laptop restarts and veerything works again .
I have no idea what the problem could be , as it's brand new and i haven't installed anything on it yet ( i've only downlaoded a benchmark and installed an antivirus suggested by asus itself)
since it's new it's still covered by warranty but i don't feel like sending it back , also because i bought it online! [IMG]
any idea of what the problem is?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi nemar.

What was the AV suggested by Asus? Can you help us out with a few things:

We really need to see the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

    To ensure minidumps are enabled:
Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
    OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

The .dmp files are located at C:\Windows\Minidump. Until a .dmp file is generated, the Minidump folder may not exist.

Go to your C:\Windows\Minidump folder. Copy the .dmp files to a new folder on your desktop. Zip up that folder and attach to a post.

Please see: How to ask for help with a BSOD problem Following Method 2:
    Download
and run the SF Diagnostics Tool. Right click the SF Diag tool and select Run as Administrator before running. When the reports have been created, zip them up and attach to a post.

Download and run CPU-Z. Take screenshots**/snips of the CPU tab, Mainboard tab, Memory tab and all the slot #'s under the SPD tab.
Go to Post Reply, click on the Go Advanced button and attach the screenshots**/snips to your post for all the RAM experts to see by using the paper clip you will find on the top toolbar. Do not zip them up.
    **
    If screenshots, please crop.

    Also see: http://windows7forums.com/blue-screen-death-bsod/71079-help-us-help-you-filling-your-system-specs.html

When attaching dmp files, PLEASE put them in a single zipped folder

    STOP 0x0000009F: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
    Usual causes:
    Device driver

Your latest dump file lists NETwNs64.sys as the probable cause.
This is an Intel Wireless WiFi 5000 Series Driver.
Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes.
Random stop codes can often indicate hardware issues.

    As a Priority:

While blue screening re-set your cpu to 2.2ghz from the overclock of 2.8ghz you are currently running.

dtsoftbus01.sys Mon Oct 17 13:12:30 2011 The dtsoftbus01.sys driver has been known to cause problems on some Windows 7 systems. This belongs to Daemon Tools Light. I suggest uninstalling DT Light until your blue screens are resolved. But do not replace with Daemon Tools!!

NETwNs64.sys Sun Sep 18 10:26:48 2011 Use the IntelĀ® Driver Update Utility (in Internet Explorer gives me the best results). See what updates are available.

For now, Remove Trend Micro (help here: Security Software | SingularLabs) and replace with bsod friendly Microsoft Security Essentials

Drivers that pre-date Windows 7. Update:

GEARAspiWDM.sys Mon May 18 13:17:04 2009 Gear Software CD-ROM Class Filter Driver v4.019.1 (Oct 2011). Also loads with iTunes

Let us know how it goes. If you get further problems with blue screens, attach your new dump files and details and we'll move on from there.

I have resolved the suspension/hibernation problem , downloading the wireless thing you told me to, but i think i've messed up my internet connection now :(
it's working fine but everytime i turn on the pc from a reboot or from a suspension , i have to go through the repair process bevcause it says that ther's a problem with the lan conenction. Using the repair device of windows i can resolve it and it works again , it says the problem is that the connection is turned off , and it turns it on again , but then it says the the wireless board is not working properly an it cant resolve that problem.
So everytime i reboot i have to go through the process again :(

Likely a result of having updated the driver. You will likely have to experiment a bit and see what power settings and features that may have either been changed or removed as a result of the new driver.

Check your power scheme in the control panel, specifically as it pertains to "Wireless Adapter Settings" and
Check the device properties in Device Manager->Power Management Tab and consider unchecking the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" check box. And
while you are there check the "Advanced" tab just to see if there are any additional controls respect to the radio (on/off) default condition or additional power saving options. See attachment

I've done as you told me , but the problem is still there :( It's nothing serious , it takes me a few minutes to solvee it but still it's very annoying since i have to do it everytime i turn it on! also sometimes it just disconnects itself from the web conenction and in about 2 minutes it manages to connect again , for no reason..

I don't know how much irritation I would put up with from a brand new purchase. You shouldn't be having any of these problems. And you definitely shouldn't have to accept anything short of proper operation and performance.
My suggestion would be to take it back or send it back, or at the very least contact the vendor and start a trouble ticket. There is no reason that I can see for you to be jumping through hoops to get a brand new machine to act properly.
    Regards
    Randy
