Well at the moment graphics cards are overpriced. Recently I build a new computer, top of the line stuff except for the graphics card - too expensive. So I bought a second hand Radeon R9 280x (the one without the "x" is far worse for somewhat more complicated to explain reasons). You can still run a lot of games in low-medium settings with this graphics card, so it might be a good option until prices for new cards drop.
In relation to prices dropping, as I'm sure many know, this is related to crypto mining, so when crypto goes wrong, gamers rejoice. I have nothing against crypto, but my guess is that we might see some rather abrupt changes this year, so at least my choice is to wait for that a couple of months, and then re-evaluate my options.
As for a new graphics card, whenever you choose to buy it, If you're not a hardcore gamer in my opinion the NVidia RTX 3060 TI is the sweet spot, with the Radeon RX 6600 XT somewhat cheaper but slightly worse, and the Radeon RX 6700 XT a bit more expensive and the next best option. The series is basically Radeon - Nvidia - Radeon - Nvidia from lowest to highest...
