Clients netbook was fried (and just out of warranty). Normally, put in the O/S (dvd) or at least boot to the repair partition. But since the drive is "just about gone", it would be nice to try a CHKDSK and see if something is saveable (like the data and possibly the O/S still works?)

Any ideas? Researched ultimatebookcd (usb version) and it does not have chkdsk. Or is there a different windows 7 version?

    thank you

Hello there try this Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool 1.0.30.0 | TechBeta It worked for me to do this on one of my clients netbooks.
You can then run chkdsk from either the repair my computer screen or the command prompt You should type CHKDSK c: /F /R " This would perform a full scan (including bad sectors) and attempt to fix them.
Hope this is of help to you.
