Windows 7 Win7 won't let me save a changes

This may sound stupid, but I'm very new to windows 7. I made a change to a file using word pad and when went to save the changes, an error box popped up saying denied. What do I have to do so I can save changes?

Who created the file?

What version of win 7 (ultimate, pro, home,etc)?

Win 7 home premium (64-bit), Administrator and microsoft flight sim X created the file.
