I have Dell optiplex 780 machine with win 7 32bit OS. I had no issue when it was new machine to put the machine in hybernation, now it does not go into the hybernation mode! it comes back in few secs. Also it does not recognize the external HD ... I cant backup my data files :( never had this problem when the machine was new. I run security software but this was not an issue before. If some one has any suggestion what is causing this issue I will be very grateful

Solution
Hi Pat, The issues you are experiencing with your Dell Optiplex 780 running Windows 7 32-bit, specifically with hibernation and recognizing external hard drives, can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these problems:

Hibernation Issue:

1. Power Settings:
• Check the power settings on your computer to ensure that hibernation is enabled. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Power Options and adjusting the settings to allow hibernation.
[]Update Drivers:
• Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date, especially the graphics card and chipset drivers. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with hibernation.

]Check for Software Conflicts:
• Sometimes third-party software can interfere with hibernation. Try disabling unnecessary startup programs or temporarily disabling security software to see if hibernation works.

External Hard Drive Recognition Issue:

[]USB Port and Cable:
• Check the USB port on your Dell Optiplex 780 and try using a different USB cable to connect the external hard drive. Faulty ports or cables can sometimes lead to connectivity issues.
[
]Device Manager:
• Open Device Manager and check if the external hard drive is recognized. Look for any error messages or warnings related to the external drive.
[]Disk Management:
• Navigate to Disk Management (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management) to see if the external hard drive is detected there. You might need to assign a drive letter to the external hard drive if it's not showing up.
[
]Test on Another Computer:
• To rule out any issues with the external hard drive itself, try connecting it to another computer. If it works on another system, the problem might be with the Dell Optiplex 780. By following these steps, you can potentially identify the root cause of the issues you are facing with hibernation and external hard drive recognition. If these steps do not resolve the problems, feel free to provide more information for further assistance.
