Windows Insiders, get ready for the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23526 now available in the Dev Channel, featuring a range of enhancements and fixes to enhance user interactions. Here's a snapshot of the notable updates included in this release:

Changes and Improvements:

- Insider Preview Build Expiration: The expiration date for Insider Preview builds in the Dev Channel has been extended to 9/15/2024 from Build 23526 onwards. It's essential to ensure you're on the latest build within the Dev Channel.

- Start Menu Enhancements: The build eliminates blank preview areas for files without rich thumbnails, aligning with the work for rich thumbnail previews for cloud files initiated with Build 23511.

- Cast Feature Enhancements: Building on previous enhancements introduced in Build 23516, the Cast flyout in Quick Settings now offers additional support for resolving issues related to discovering displays and connections.

- Narrator Improvements: Adjusted the default verbosity level to enhance user experience. Additional support for typing Traditional Chinese characters has been implemented in Narrator.

- Narrator with Braille Enhancements: Optimized support for navigation within attachments in Outlook using scan mode and navigating lists with items, ensuring compatibility with Braille displays.

Fixes:

- Start Menu Fixes: Addressed issues with mislabeling the System label in high contrast themes and unresolved problems when trying to uninstall certain apps.

- Taskbar & System Tray Fixes: Resolved taskbar loading issues, corrected animations, and empty app icons, and fixed issues related to the End Task option and Bluetooth icon visibility after an upgrade.

- File Explorer Improvements: Addressed crashes related to launching or interacting with File Explorer, making the taskbar settings persist across upgrades, and fixing issues with transparent context menus and dropdown menus.

- Dev Drive Fixes: Resolved issues related to Dev Drives not auto-mounting after an upgrade, enhanced error messages for failed formatting, and addressed bugchecks during upgrades related to Dev Drives.

Known Issues:

- Issues being worked on include fixing explorer.exe crashes on the login screen when attempting to enter safe mode and incorrect labeling of apps in the Start menu as system components.

For Developers:

- A new NuGet SDK with granular access to the SDK for Canary and Dev Channels has been launched. Developers are advised to use adaptive code for targeting new APIs and feature detection over OS version checks for better app compatibility.

About the Dev Channel:

- The Dev Channel has undergone a reset, moving Windows Insiders on 25000 series builds to the Canary Channel. The Dev Channel now receives 23000 series builds representing long lead work from engineers to experiment with features and experiences.

Stay tuned for more updates and the evolving feature set in the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23526 available in the Dev Channel.
