Hello Windows enthusiasts! Today, exciting news for the community as Microsoft has rolled out the Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds 22621.885 and 22623.885 (KB5020054) to the Beta Channel.
### Key Highlights
- Build 22623.885: New features are actively rolling out.
- Build 22621.885: New features are off by default.
For those previously on Build 22622, you will automatically move to Build 22623 via an enablement package which helps distinguish updates with new features from those with features off by default.
### What's New in Build 22623.885
#### Access Windows Studio Effects from Quick Settings
Windows Studio effects for devices with a supported Neural Processing Unit (NPU) can now be accessed directly from Quick Settings on the taskbar. This allows for quick adjustments for camera and audio effects, such as:
- Camera Effects:
- Background Blur
- Eye Contact
- Automatic Framing
- Audio Effects:
- Voice Focus
#### Energy Recommendations
Energy Recommendations can be found under Settings > System > Power & Battery > Energy Recommendations. This feature aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce your carbon footprint by providing actionable recommendations.
### What's New in Both Builds 22621.885 & 22623.885
#### Expanded View in Widgets
New changes are being trialed that let users expand the size of their widgets board. The expand/collapse button at the top right of the board allows for this, and your board size preference will be remembered.
### Changes and Improvements in Build 22623.885
#### System Tray
- Improved rearrangement of icons in the hidden icons flyout.
- Icons can now be repositioned in the hidden icons area to any spot within the tray.
#### Input
- Introduction of the Tamil Anjal keyboard for Tamil language regions.
- Support for clipboard history (WIN + V) in password fields.
- The touch keyboard icon setting now has a dropdown with options: Never, Always, or When no keyboard is attached.
### Fixes and Known Issues
#### Taskbar & System Tray
Several fixes around the taskbar and system tray include:
- Enhanced performance for dragging system tray icons.
- Addressed issues with the volume icon and context menus getting stuck behind the taskbar.
#### File Explorer
- Performance improvements when deleting large volumes of files, either through emptying the recycle bin or using Shift + Delete.
#### General
- Fixed issues where some modern apps couldn't open.
#### Known Issues
- Audio issues reported by some Insiders.
- Taskbar transitions between desktop and tablet posture still have glitches.
- Quick settings occasionally get stuck in an expanded state.
