It sounds like you're experiencing issues with Windows Media Player freezing or playing videos without sound, along with the Task Manager showing "Default IME - not responding" during these instances. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue: 1. Update Windows Media Player: Ensure that your Windows Media Player is up to date. Sometimes, outdated versions can cause compatibility issues with certain video formats. 2. Check Video Codec Compatibility: Make sure that the videos you're trying to play are in a compatible format with Windows Media Player. If not, you may need to install additional codecs or use a different media player that supports a wider range of formats. 3. Restart Default...

If not, you may need to install additional codecs or use a different media player that supports a wider range of formats. 3. Restart Default IME: "Default IME" stands for Input Method Editor, used for inputting text and characters in different languages. Sometimes, issues with IMEs can affect other processes. You can try restarting the Default IME service to see if it resolves the freezing issue. 4. Check for System Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. This can help fix bugs and improve overall system stability. 5. Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause issues with video playback. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date from the manufacturer's website. 6. Run SFC Scan: Use the System File Checker tool to scan and restore corrupted system files that may be impacting Windows Media Player's performance. Here's how you can run an SFC scan: - Open Command Prompt as an administrator. - Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. - Wait for the scan to complete and follow any on-screen instructions. 7. Use an Alternative Media Player: If the issue persists, you can try using alternative media players like VLC Media Player or MPC-HC to see if they can play the videos without issues. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and potentially fix the freezing and sound issues you are encountering with Windows Media Player during video playback. If you continue to experience problems, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
