I have done a fresh install of win 7. I noticed that it hangs while playing videos through WMP12. Now, I only play wmv files through wmp and it does not hang.... at least for now.
While playing flv file through jetvideo, win 7 again hanged.

What could be the issue ? any insight please !

When you experience hanging or freezing issues with specific video formats on Windows 7, it could be due to various reasons. Here are some insights into the potential issues and solutions: 1. Codec Compatibility: Windows Media Player (WMP) relies on codecs to play various video formats. The default codecs may not fully support FLV files, which could lead to freezing or hanging issues. Installing a suitable codec pack like K-Lite Codec Pack or Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP) might help resolve this problem. 2. Software Conflict: Third-party video players like JetVideo can sometimes conflict with system resources or codecs used by Windows Media Player, leading to freezing issues. Software Conflict: Third-party video players like JetVideo can sometimes conflict with system resources or codecs used by Windows Media Player, leading to freezing issues. Ensure that you have the latest version of JetVideo and that it is not conflicting with other software on your system. 3. Hardware Acceleration: Sometimes enabling hardware acceleration in video players can cause freezing, especially if the hardware is not optimized for it. Try disabling hardware acceleration in both Windows Media Player and JetVideo to see if it resolves the freezing problem. 4. System Resources: Insufficient system resources like RAM or CPU power can also cause freezing while playing videos. Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements for smoothly playing videos in these players. 5. Driver Issues: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can lead to freezing while playing videos. Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date to avoid compatibility issues. 6. Corrupt Files: The FLV file itself might be corrupted, causing the player to hang. Try playing the same file on a different media player to see if the issue persists. 7. Background Processes: Disable unnecessary background processes and applications that might be consuming system resources while playing videos. This can help in smoother playback. 8. Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest updates, as updates often include fixes and improvements that can resolve stability issues. By addressing these possible issues, you can troubleshoot and resolve the video freezing problem on your Windows 7 system. If the issue persists, further diagnosis may be required to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem.
