Is windows 7 really version 7.0? If one opens a command prompt window one sees that it says it is windows version 6.1. Last time i checked 6.1 is not version 7.... So it would seem that MS is only using the name "7" like how they used the name "XP" or "Vista". I think this is to decieve people into thinking that 7 is vastly different then Vista. I do love 7 and find many of its new features such as faster boot times and the new task bar to be an improvement. However the code is still based on 6.0 Vista, which is fine since Vista is stable after SP1 is installed. But does M$ think we are stupid enough to think that 7 is totally new from the ground up? I believe that version 8 is going to be a major release and that all odd numbered releases are a minor release somwhat like a service pack with extras. I think that 7 is what vista should have been.
