Installed Windows 7 on a blank 2 TB hard drive in a Dell XPS 710. All is well running the original 2 gig of memory. If I add memory above 2 gig Windows 7 destroys its own boot and crashes. I've tested with 2x2 gig sticks as well as 1x1 gig sticks. I can restore the boot and again run fine if I change the memory back to 2 gig.
It doesn't sound like the new memory. It is a fresh 64b load of home-premium.
Sounds like it has to be Dell hardware - maybe motherboard.
When there is more than 2 gig installed many blue screens, reboots, etc.
Is it possible that this is a WIndows 7 problem?
