Windows Media Player 12 Problem

    Hi guys,

    recently there is this problem going on with my wmp 12 which i got with my new laptop installed with Win 7.

    what is this problem?
    i have turned the feature off/on and even did a system restore, but still no effect. is there anyway to fix this problem?

    Hello and welcome to the forum. : )

    Try deleting wmp media library and then re-adding it back. Follow these steps:

    1. Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, here look for the services that start with “Windows Media Player”

    2. Click the stop button for each service that starts with “Windows Media Player”

    3. Open up an explorer window and copy-paste into the address bar:

    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\

    4. Highlight all the files in this folder (by pressing Ctr-D) and move them (cut-paste) to a backup directory.

    5. See if you can open a media file now.

    thanks, i did all of that, but it still didnt work.. i think i deleted something from the main wmp folder, here have a look:

    when i search for wmp, i only get the shortcut..
