Major Update for Windows Subsystem for Android: New Features and Fixes

Introduction​

Microsoft has rolled out a significant update for Windows Subsystem for Android™ across all Windows Insider channels. Update version 2306.40000.4.0 introduces enhancements, bug fixes for OneDrive integration, and user-requested features.

Enhancements and New Features​

Camera Improvement: Enhanced camera compatibility within the Android subsystem.
Fullscreen Mode Enhancement: Fullscreen mode (activated by F11) now includes a hover taskbar to enhance the touch and mouse experience.
Local Networking: Advanced settings include local networking, replacing the previous "Advanced networking" feature. Android apps can now interact with devices on the same network, adhere to Windows firewall rules, and function with VPNs.
Share User Folders: Users now have the flexibility to modify their default shared folder selection within the advanced settings.
Permission Prompts: A prompt system is now in place to notify users when apps attempt to access subsystem permissions that are not authorized.
Disk Format Update: Switched from EROFS to EXT4 for read-only disks within the subsystem.
OneDrive Integration Fix: Resolved issues where OneDrive folders were not visible in Android apps.
Drag and Drop Support: Expanded support for drag and drop functionality with various file types.
Picture-in-Picture Improvements: Enhanced UI buttons while in Picture-in-Picture mode.
Memory Optimization: Partially running mode is now enabled by default for devices with a minimum of 16 GB of memory.
Stability Enhancements: Improved stability for Arm devices.
Kernel and Security Updates: Linux kernel updated to version 5.15.104, along with security updates for Android 13.
