Windows 7 Wired mouse and keyboard...but no SSave, DisplayOff, or Sleep

My power controls stopped working about a week ago. I had a wireless mouse, but a wired keyboard. I made sure I had all the latest drivers for these pieces. Nothing changed. So I just bought a wired Logitech mouse...and again...nothing has changed. I have no power control. What's next?

Are there any settings where you can assign keys for this power option?

I cannot get a screensaver to work. I cannot get displayoff, or sleep to operate at all. I have read in many places that I need to throw out my wireless mouse and install a wired mouse. They seem to say it works. I have a brand new Logitech wired mouse and there's no change. What's the next step?

Check in your mouse/keyboard settings for programmable keys.


Screensaver etc. - can you get it to work the normal way with a mouse click?

No, the only way to get it to work is to Preview it. Other than that...nothing. I have no programmable buttons or keys for these particular actions.
