I just purchased a new HP laptop and cant get a wireless connection at home

I can get online through my ethernet but not wirelessly. I get "limited connection" to my home network. It is "Unidentified Network". The wireless connection shows all bars and a strong connection.

When I right click the icon on the bottom right side of my laptop it shows "AccessType":
"No Network Access" and Connections shows my home network name.

I do not have Bonjour or McAfee. I have checked on updates to the drivers and there weren't any needed.

I really want to get wireless ASAP.

PS. My wife's laptop gets a wireless connection without any problems.

We will need some more detail from you regarding the hardware in place.
HP laptop, doesn't actually tell us much, Model Name associated Model Numbers (letters, numbers and hypens, etc) Wireless adapter information, manufacturer, model name, model number, revision number. Wireless Router information, Manufacturer, Model Name, model number and revision number. All this information should be available to you through the vendor's documentation, or on the physical device itself, or in the case of the laptop typing msinfo32 into the search or run dialog box and hitting enter, and in the case of your router by accessing the routers built in browser information ususally by typing http://192.168.nnn.nnn into any web browser (that's the actual ip address of your router, usually your default gateway.).
Attempt to use the network trouble shooter built into the Network and sharing center with only your wireless adapter enabled and see if that produces any information.
try changing your network location from public to home or home to work just to see if that helps at all.
Do not rely on information from the Windows Update Utility to tell you if your driver is up to date, it will almost always tell you it is, and may have already installed a problematic driver so you may want to see if you can roll it back. Obtain hardware drivers from your laptop manufacturer's website or else the specific hardware vendor's website.
use the command prompt and type
ipconfig /all > C:\users\johnsmith\documents\ipconfig.txt
change "johnsmith" to YourUserName use quotes around the path if there are any space (ipconfig /all > "C:\users\john smith\documents\ipconfig.txt")
that will add a text file into your document folder call ipconfig.txt please attach it to your next post.

Could you post a picture of your Network and sharing center. If your network is being shown as unidentified, a firewall may be restricting access. If it shows as a Home Network, it should be working.

Your wireless adapter is not receiving any DCHP information from your wireless Router. Try resetting the Router to factory defaults by using the recessed button usually on the back of the router located inside a small hole (probably going to need a paper clip or something similiar). Keep in mind that if you are connecting with PPPoE, you will need to re-enter your username and password on the WAN side of the Router's configuration screen. You may well have to reboot (not reset) your ISP provided device as well and then bring the router back on line after the ISP device has rebooted completely.
You didn't include the revision number for that router, but checking a couple REV. E has been discontinued and no longer supported by the vendor and B. and C. have very old firmware updates back to 2005 and 2006, so I don't suspect they are going to address anything specific regarding Windows 7, so don't bother.
Turn off IPv6 for all your adapters, at least temporarily.
Keep us posted.

You might try going to the IPv4 properties for the adapter and put in a known good IP address. Use your router for the Gateway and DNS addresses. If you can get it to connect, try going back to automatic later.

Make sure a router is not restricting a MAC address and you might need to start with no encryption until you get it working.

Great. Thanks for the follow-up. Glad to hear that you were able to resolve your issue.
Thanks for joining the forums and we hope to continue to see you around.
Regards
Randy
