Cooler Master’s V8 Ace 3DHP is making a credible case that a premium single-tower air cooler can compete with much larger dual-tower designs—but its $120 price means it is aimed at builders willing to pay for engineering and aesthetics rather than outright value.
PC Gamer’s July 29 review found the V8 Ace 3DHP kept an Intel Core i7-14700K near the results of Noctua’s NH-D15 G2 in gaming and several sustained workloads. Tom’s Hardware reached a similar conclusion earlier this month, describing the V8 Ace as competitive with the best dual-tower air coolers while flagging its premium pricing.

The central change is Cooler Master’s 3D Heat Pipe design. Rather than relying solely on conventional U-shaped heat pipes, two of the V8 Ace’s six pipes add a central branch intended to draw heat upward through more of the fin stack.
Cooler Master says the arrangement helps move heat away from the CPU hotspot and into otherwise underused cooling fins. The company pairs those two 3DHP pipes with four standard heat pipes, dual 120 mm by 30 mm fans, and a dense single-tower heatsink.
Independent testing does not turn every workload into a clean win. PC Gamer’s benchmarks put the V8 Ace behind the NH-D15 G2 under some tests, including a heavy Prime95 load, while showing it at or near the front in others. That is still notable for a cooler measuring as a single tower rather than a sprawling dual-tower assembly.

Intel and AMD buyers need to choose carefully​

The V8 Ace is sold in separate Intel and AMD versions, not merely with different mounting brackets. Cooler Master says its Intel model is tuned for higher sustained heat density, while the AMD version emphasizes AM5 and AM4 contact alignment. The Intel model supports LGA 1851, 1700, 1200 and older mainstream sockets; the AMD edition supports AM5 and AM4.
That distinction matters for builders running high-power desktop processors. Choosing the model designed around the platform’s integrated heat spreader geometry should be more useful than treating the two editions as interchangeable.
The cooler is also 167.3 mm tall and weighs just over 1 kg, so it is not a universal answer to clearance problems. Its sliding fan rails can help accommodate taller DIMMs, but case height remains the first compatibility check.

Strong cooling, weak value proposition​

PC Gamer measured the V8 Ace at 48 dBA at full fan speed, quieter than the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE in its testing but louder than Noctua’s NH-D15 G2. Cooler Master rates the front fan at up to 2,500 RPM and the rear unit at 2,050 RPM, with Loop Dynamic Bearings rated for more than 200,000 hours MTTF.
The practical trade-off is straightforward: the V8 Ace 3DHP offers high-end air-cooling performance in a single-tower layout, plus an unusual V-engine visual design, but cheaper dual-tower alternatives can get close enough thermally for far less. For an Intel or AMD workstation where sustained CPU loads, serviceable fans, and an air-cooled build matter more than bargain pricing, Cooler Master’s new heat-pipe design looks like more than marketing.
