The distinction matters for anyone buying games specifically for the Frame rather than for an existing Windows PC and SteamVR headset. Valve designed Steam Frame primarily for low-latency wireless streaming from a PC, which gives this collection a strong chance of being useful through Steam Link-style PC VR streaming. Running those same games on the headset itself, without a gaming PC, is a different compatibility and performance question that neither Humble nor Steam Deck HQ answers.
Steam Deck HQ also makes a small but telling naming error: the $8 tier includes Labyrinthine, not “Labyrinthe.” That is more than a copy-editing nitpick, because the real game is a co-op horror title that supports both desktop and VR play; its Steam Deck Verified status does not translate to Steam Frame standalone compatibility.
The bundle’s value is in PC VR, not native Steam Frame play
The seven-game lineup covers a reasonable cross-section of the existing SteamVR catalog. Into the Radius VR remains the headline acquisition: CM Games’ survival shooter combines a large explorable zone, manual weapon handling, scavenging, and a deliberately slow pace that rewards a room-scale VR setup. Its Steam store page lists SteamVR and Oculus PC support, while the Windows requirements call for a GTX 1070-class GPU at minimum and an RTX 2070 at the recommended level.
That requirement list alone should temper expectations for standalone Frame play. Steam Frame’s onboard hardware is intended to run SteamOS software locally through a mix of native ARM applications, Android packages, and compatibility layers for PC software. A 2020 Windows VR title built around a discrete-PC-GPU baseline may eventually work locally, but it has not earned that outcome merely by being sold on Steam.
The same applies to Sairento VR, Racket: Nx, DOOM VFR, and The Utility Room. All are conventional PC VR releases with tracked-controller support, and their Steam pages identify them as VR-only. Racket: Nx and Sairento VR are older SteamVR staples that should be natural candidates for streaming from a capable Windows PC; neither store listing currently establishes that the game is Steam Frame Standalone Verified.
WRATH: Aeon of Ruin VR is the newest game in the package, released in April 2026 by Flat2VR Studios, Team Beef, and 3D Realms. Its store page lists OpenXR support and names Meta Quest, Valve Index, Pimax, and Pico among supported hardware. That broad PC VR support makes it a promising streamed title, especially as an aggressive shooter built for tracked motion controls, but the listing does not name Steam Frame or offer a Frame compatibility badge.
The Utility Room is the collection’s least conventional entry. Lionel Marsden’s surreal VR exploration game describes itself as a journey rather than a traditional action game, but its own system requirements recommend an RTX 3060 for Windows PC use and say it performs best through Oculus OpenXR. That does not rule out Frame streaming; it simply reinforces that the game’s published configuration guidance was written for a PC-hosted VR environment.
Valve’s own rules split streaming from standalone
Valve’s Steamworks documentation is unusually explicit here. Steam Frame is a standalone headset, but Valve says it is designed primarily for high-quality game streaming from a PC. The company also says its Steam Frame Standalone Verified review applies only to software running locally on the headset—not games running on a PC and streamed to Frame.
For streaming, Valve’s message to developers is simple: if a game performs well on the host PC, it should perform well on Steam Frame. In that mode, the headset is receiving a video stream and controller input rather than attempting to render the game internally. That is the use case buyers of this bundle can plan around today, provided they already have a Windows PC capable of meeting each game’s VR requirements.
Standalone execution comes with a separate gate. Valve’s current documentation says a VR game must maintain at least 72 frames per second at 1,728 by 1,728 per eye during normal play to receive the Standalone Verified designation. Games under 1,440 by 1,440 per eye will carry an Unsupported badge, although Valve says users will still be allowed to download and attempt to run them.
Those numbers have already moved. Road to VR reported on August 7 that Valve had lowered the standalone VR performance target from the 90 fps it presented at GDC 2026 to 72 fps, while adding the resolution threshold and an emphasis on reprojection data. The change makes certification more attainable for developers, but it does not create a blanket compatibility promise for legacy SteamVR software.
As of August 8, none of the seven titles’ Steam store pages presents a Steam Frame Standalone Verified or Playable designation. Buyers should read that as unknown local compatibility, not as an Unsupported verdict and certainly not as a guarantee.
Steam Deck Verified does not carry over
Labyrinthine is the clearest example of why platform labels need to be read precisely. Steam Deck HQ calls the game Steam Deck Verified, which is useful information for playing its flat-screen mode on Valve’s handheld. But Steam Deck verification concerns a different device, different controls, different screen, and an x86-based AMD APU rather than Frame’s headset form factor and standalone software path.
Valve’s Frame checklist asks developers to meet additional VR-specific criteria. Beyond performance and resolution, games that render controller models must support the Frame controllers, default controls must cover all gameplay functions, controller glyphs must match, and the title cannot throw Linux, GPU, or device-compatibility warnings at the user. Windows games without native Linux builds may also have to clear Valve’s Proton compatibility layer.
That creates practical risk for older VR titles. DOOM VFR launched in 2017 and still carries a “Mixed” overall English-language review rating on Steam. Its problems have historically centered on implementation and control preferences across headsets, precisely the kind of input and compatibility friction a standalone verification program is supposed to identify before a buyer presses Play. The bundle price may make it worth owning for a PC VR library, but it is a poor title to treat as a Frame launch-day certainty.
A good library deal, with one important purchase condition
The package is still appealing at $18 if the buyer wants games for a Windows PC VR setup now. Into the Radius VR alone normally lists for $29.99 on Steam; Sairento VR also lists at $29.99, while Racket: Nx and WRATH: Aeon of Ruin VR are listed at $19.99 each. Even allowing for Steam sales and games a buyer may already own, the bundle has enough variety to justify the price for someone building a SteamVR library.
The best use of the deal is to claim the keys, install and test them through an existing PC VR headset, and treat Steam Frame as a future streaming endpoint. A PC equipped to meet the games’ published GPU requirements should remain the dependable plan, especially for Into the Radius VR and The Utility Room.
Valve has confirmed a summer 2026 window for Steam Frame but has not announced a precise release date or price. Until Steam publishes Frame compatibility results for these individual games, the bundle should be bought for its current PC VR value—not for an unverified promise of headset-only play.
