Windows 7 To Unblock SP1 if applied to the REGISTRY CLARIFICATION..

MSI and they have been good about sending me another reconditioned one. Hopefully, that's the problem since the other ECLIPSE boots cold and works fine. BTW, that took a bunch to get there though. Thanks and have a great day!

Windows 7 To Unblock SP1 if applied to the REGISTRY CLARIFICATION..

Thanks Elmer for clearing up. I will leave it with a zero. Who knows maybe I too might want it back on? BTW, I just backed up and reinstalled this system due to BSODS when coldstarted. After coldstarting, I can dskchk /f and usually get it stay up without crashing. I suspect this mobo which...

Windows 7 To Unblock SP1 if applied to the REGISTRY CLARIFICATION..

Per Mike yesterday I was told not to when I asked about deleting. However, he made no mention of how best to handle. The article says /u and /b which is unclear. I did see removing the 1 in data field but not sure that takes care. As for removing, do you mean the line named Donotallowsp and...

Windows 7 To Unblock SP1 if applied to the REGISTRY CLARIFICATION..

I ran the SP1BLOCKER to the registry and want to unblock. Not sure if I interpreted how to unblock. I merely changed the data to all zeroes that was a 1. Does that take care of it ?

Thanks Mike! One more question: If I installed the blocker, should I delete it from the registry or just leave it.

Windows 7 Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Download Available

No problem with sp1 download worked like a charm. MY QUESTION IS TO MIKE: WHY RUN THE BLOCK SP1 UPDATE? SEEMS LIKE WINDOWS UPGRADE AUTOMATICALLY SHOULD PREVENT TRYING TO REINSTALL. RIGHT?

Windows 7 Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Download Available

Mike, I wonder why one might change the settings in Windows update to not install any updates until one gives allows rather than adding something in the registry to block. Sometimes that feature is used by any of us checking a problem. Lastly, if one has already installed sp1, this update...

Windows 7 Sharing files Delimena in Windows 7 with vista and xp HOMEGROUP?

All OS's worked at times but still remained flaky. Best solution I found was to put all on Windows 7 and problems went away. Suspect multiple or intermittant problems caused by firewalls in router and software. To summarize, look for strange happenings when trying to share with older...

Windows 7 Sharing files Delimena in Windows 7 with vista and xp HOMEGROUP?

Finally able to share on three pcs like I did in good ole xp and vista days. After hearing how much easier it is in Win7, I sprang for family pak and Win7 on the xp and vista pcs that gave me fits trying to share with Win7. My findings were: Win7 password protect OFF allowed one in the...

Windows 7 Sharing files Delimena in Windows 7 with vista and xp HOMEGROUP?

Saltgrass, My Media Streaming was ALLOW and I changed to Block. I presume that is what you said is OFF? BTW, the special ultility (922120) would not install on either of my pcs. Now, please clear up what one can do to share xp files from WIN7. From all correspondence with this forum and others...

Windows 7 Sharing files Delimena in Windows 7 with vista and xp HOMEGROUP?

Option changed to NOT let windows manage did nothing different but I left it as you suggested. I can still see VISTA AND WIN7 in see full map while inside Network and Sharing Center from either pc. With this option checked in Win7 earlier(prior to allowing windows to manage, I did see and...

Windows 7 Sharing files Delimena in Windows 7 with vista and xp HOMEGROUP?

Saltgrass, I do have allow windows to manage SINCE IT STATES RECOMMENDED. I thought if I choose other option I have to supply passwords on each of my IN HOME PCS. That option, ALLOW WINDOWS TO MANAGE, has always been checked and I wonder why it lets me sometimes and others it does not. I...

Windows 7 Sharing files Delimena in Windows 7 with vista and xp HOMEGROUP?

Stueycaster, You missed my point, I saying that sharing seemed to work prior to W7. I was hoping W7 with all security bandaids and security patches that xp and vista did not have maybe needed. I just feel the sharing portion of software has not worked as smoothly as it did in prior releases...
