Thanks for your expertise and patience in dealing with someone less than computer savvy. I don't foresee installing XP again on this computer; however, I was wondering why the partition is so large. It only has about 1.5g worth of information, buy will only shrink to 29g.....is this normal?

What if I leave the XP D: drive, but just reduce its size to a minimum? How can I perform that task? That way, I will not have to worry about loosing drivers or other abilities that the Sony computer originally had.

Thanks. I attempted to delete the partition, but it is denoted as "active" and it cannot delete it. It was once one side of the dual boot system. I thinking there has to be a way to make it not-active? ....but I haven't found that yet.

How can I delete a "local disk" on my hard disk drive that I never use or need? I plan on replacing my SATA drive with an SSD and want it a single disk prior to the transfer.

Ah, I figured that Windows might have known that designing the software. With that in mind, what direction should I go? (sorry to ask such potentially uneducated questions :-)

I am installing "Windows XP Mode - Windows Virtual PC" that gets stuck in "Starting the virtual machine..." as it keeps trying to do this work over and over to infinity; help! The computer is a 2012 i5 MacBook Pro with 16ram and I have Windows 7 loaded on Parallels 11. Any ideas??

I tried loading Windows 7 on the Vaio and it turned on the wifi automatically, the battery however doesn't know to charge yet. I'm performing the updates (some will stick, others will not as its a 32) and then download the updates from Sony. Question about Bootcamp: is there a way to migrate...

Thanks, I'll read up on that. Secondly, no, the Vaio doesn't recognize any of the devices, so neither does the VM.

Again, cool info. First, the Vaio's wifi switch light is off, so I'm assuming the Vaio is driverless; and there is no support from Sony. Second, I didn't know I could run Boot Camp and install the Windows OS directly on the Mac. I tried that feet on a 1,1 Mac Pro in '06 and ran into nothing...

Thanks for the info! I'll try the XP auto updates, if I can get the XP on the Vaio to find the Ethernet or Wifi; the drivers were Vista based, so that's an issue. I'm stuck on that machine. Any help here would be kicking (it's a 15" screen, better for CAD) However, the MacBook has the Windows...

Oh, thanks for the info, it wasn't clear. Two questions: 1) I have a copy of XP that I could load on Virtualbox, but the rub there is it's not supported and there's no way to get updates to make it even run a browser so I can utilize email. Is there another way to get XP updates from the '02...
