I have 6GB of DDR3 ram installed. When I look at Taskmanager I see:
Total: 6141
Cached: 4580
Avail: 4519
Free: 0
Does this look okay? Why does it say I have 0 Free ram? Everything runs fine so I'm sure it the way it is supposed to be but I was wondering about that 0 free ram thing.
I recently enabled AHCI mode for my SATA drives. Now they show up in the Remove Devices app as ejectable. Is there a way to disable having them in there?
Thank you Gilbert. I was able to map the folders on the MediaVault thanks to your suggestion. I was not able to map to the drive itself, just the shared folders. Now, I'm trying to consolidate some of my folders to reduce the number. I had 9 before; way too many to effectively map.
I have an HP MediaVault MV2120. It is a home file storage/server running a Linux OS. It also has a media server that runs in the background.
I had zero problems with seeing it while running XP. Now, with Win7, I can only get to it by manually entering in the network address. I can not see or...
Cuz I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I'm trying to follow Microsoft's recommendation of running mainly in a Std user account instead of an admin account.
Not sure what you mean by hidden admin. I have 3 accounts: my main acct, which I changed to be a "Standard User", an admin account with admin privileges and Guest Acct.
I had to create the Admin acct when I changed my main logon to be a std user. Are you suggesting there is yet another admin...
I tried that and it wouldn't let me. While logged into my administrator account I tried to give Full Control to my Std User account. Windows came back and said:
"An error occured while applying security information to: C:\program files (x86) Access is denied. "
I tried doing it from the std...
Okay, this is weird (to me). I turned off notifications and rebooted back into my std user account. I lost access to "C:\program files (x86)". Well, I could navigate to it but I couldn't write to it. Find and Run Robot, which autostarts complained that it couldn't write some db file. That was my...
Wouldn't I have to disable UAC notifications across the board? Or, is it possible to change it on a program by program basis?
I tried turning off notifications just now anyways. It still asked me for my admin password on program start.
I am trying to autostart a program with admin privileges using the task scheduler trick outlined here:
Make Vista launch UAC restricted programs at startup with Task Scheduler | Microsoft Windows | TechRepublic.com
But, I'm running into a problem. The program is Everything Search Engine. When...
I can not search pdf files using built-in Windows Search. I have Adobe Reader 9.1 installed which comes with the proper ifilter. But, when I go to indexing options it says "Registered IFilter is not found". I even downloaded and installed the standalone IFilter provided by Adobe but still...
