    I found my problem. Thanks for all of the helpful input. As it turns out, my issue was software related. Pinnacle Media Suite Plus v10.8, once removed in both operating systems the burners worked in either one. I guess I'll have to write a letter to the company and see if they can do anything...

    Like I said, I've got a dual boot setup. It worked fine in both drives, prior to my reloading both drives. Although, prior to that it was acting up in XP and working fine in Vista. I just bought a new DVD drive and installed it last night. It did not work in Vista either. I get this message...

    My machine is a HP a1250n, AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0 GHz, 2 GB ram . My DVD burner is a HP 740b- 16x DVD(+/-)R/RW (+/-)R DL LightScribe drive. I also have an EVGA Nvidia 8600 GTS Superclocked.
