    Windows 8 antivirus

I am a big fan of Defender so far, it is doing better than other options I've used in the past with Windows 7 and before that. I have read the reviews based on the independent testing, and was astounded to be honest. Numbers don't always translate into real world experience, and I guess this...

Windows 8 32 vs 64 bit programs on secondary drives or partitions?

This is a bit late to the party, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents regarding what I've read and experienced in this regard. 1) You most certainly can install install a 32 bit app in the 64bit directory (program files vs program files (x86) ), though it is not a great idea to make a practice of...

Windows 7 Acronis does not show option "when I log off" Windows 7

Thanks for that image. No, mine does not look like that. When I get back to my computer, I'll check my version of True Image Home, but I beleieve that it is version 10. So perhaps 10 doesn't do 64 bit thing? Anyway, thanks again for posting. Mahon

Windows 7 Acronis does not show option "when I log off" Windows 7

Acronis True Image does not show option "when I log off" for scheduled task I'm trying to schedule an Acronis TrueImage Home task (backup) and when I get to the last page of scheduling the task, in Windows XP, I had previously been presented with the option to start the task "when the user logs...

Ok. Got it working. I updated the bios and turned the voltage to "Auto". Seems to see all the RAM and W7 is booting normally. Thanks again, Mahlon

Windows 7 Windows 7 SUPER slow loadtime after RAM upgrade

Hey RAK, I've looked in the bios under MIT, and the DDR2 overclock shows that I can only INCEASE the voltage in 0.1 increments. I don't see an area where it says what the voltage is set too, nor a way to decrease the numbers. Any ideas on that? Thanks, Mahlon

Windows 7 Windows 7 SUPER slow loadtime after RAM upgrade

Thanks RAK. I'll try that when I get home tonight. I expect that you are right and the board is set for 2.1 volts. I don't remember setting that manually, but I do recall seeing that the voltage had been set to "manual" in the bios. Could I set the voltage to "auto"? Would that accomplish the...

Windows 7 Windows 7 SUPER slow loadtime after RAM upgrade

I have a Gigabyte P35-DS3L motherboard and have been running 4 gigs (4 x 1GB Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4; 4-4-4-12; 2.1 volts) on it with no problems. Windows 7 runs great. I decided to up the ante to 8 gigs RAM (4 x 2GB Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5; 5-5-5-18; 1.8 volts -- which is approved from...
