I have not changed any policies, or installed any tweaking software. I've tried a system restore from safe mode (Its the only way I could make it run), and that did not fix it. I've used several anti-virus and anti-malware packages to scan my entire computer. The exact error message I get...

Still gives the same message. Rebooted back into normal mode and still doesn't let me run exe files. Notepad works, calc, windows explorer works, but stuff like regedit, device manager, doesn't run.

Thanks, It worked, but not all data was written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes.

No luck. It did however say some were added, others were in use. This was done in safe mode.

Could not run it in normal mode, so booted into safe mode. "Cannot import.... The specified file is not a registry script" It says try importing from within regedit, I tried that, and got the same error. PS. I can run notepad, calc, games etc, but not the important files.

Yes please, anything to avoid a re-install.

Clean install, even formatted the drive completely (Except for the toshiba partition)

Hi all, I'm totally lost, been trying a few things, but no luck. Windows 7 on my laptop isn't working right. When I run an exe, it says file not found. I've run spybot, avg, Virus Removal Tool, and a few others, its found some objects, and removed, but still not working right. My sound works...
