Windows 7 How to set read only permission on all photos for all users

It is a dlink - dns 323 set up with RAID 1 - it comes with some software to set it up but not for setting up permissions etc. I have it mapped as my Z drive so I use it from windows. I have looked on the relevant forum and most people are talking about linux permissions. If I cant get my answer...

Windows 7 How to set read only permission on all photos for all users

Sorry but what should I be looking at - file sharing or file security? I want access to the pictures to be read only for myself as I want to prevent myself or anyone using my computer from accidentally deleting the files. This all works fine on files on my local drives.

Windows 7 How to set read only permission on all photos for all users

Just tried most of these settings for 'everyone' and absolutely nothing works. Whatever permissions I set look as if they have taken effect but when I return to properties there are no settings applied. It works fine on my computers' hard drive so it is a NAS related problem. Should I look at...

Windows 7 How to set read only permission on all photos for all users

Wow this looks so complex! All I want is to make the files look as if they are on dvds, ie even I would not be able to accidentally erase the files unless i explicitly changed permissions on the files. In answer to your questions the NAS is NTFS and I have mapped it as the Z drive. I will have...

Windows 7 How to set read only permission on all photos for all users

Hi I have just moved all my photos to my NAS and I want to set read-only on them as my whole family are accessing them. I though this would be simply the case of clicking the read-only attribute for the folder but I can still delete the files. What should I be doing? thanks,Shumit

Windows 7 memory card loading as the hard drive

Very strange thing happening. When I plug my compactflash card into my memory card reader a window opens showing a new drive(G) but it shows the contents of my second hard drive(D). My external hard drive loads correctly as does my ipod. I am using windows 7- 64 bit any ideas?

Windows 7 Customising the desktop toolbar in W7 64bit

Hi I like the desktop toolbar but cannot move the icons around within the toolbar so that My Documents is in the list on the screen. Is there a way to do this or do I have to resort to 3rd party software. thanks,Shumit

Windows 7 BSOD within 60 seconds of running IE8

Well this is mysterious as I appear to have the up to date bios(1/4/2010) but no voltage option on the top right hand side as described in the manual. I have tried the msi live update and it says I dont need to update the bios. Any ideas? Shumit

Windows 7 BSOD within 60 seconds of running IE8

The final word. I pulled out each ram stick and the computer ran ok, put a single ram into each slot and all worked ok, then when I put in both sticks the machine crashes. So it appears the machine does not run with two sticks in it! Many thanks for your help.

Below are just the critical and the errors I got. There were a few hundred warnings as well but no 'disk' errors. Not sure which ones to show you details of but let me know. As to getting to the bios - Im having problems - F11 takes me to recovery, F8 takes me to the boot manager... I also ran...
