Welp...done and done.
Followed your steps. Bing resurfaced.
Went to set new tab, and selected blank page.
The new tab showed Bing.
On that new page, Customize did not show.
Oh well.
I use Chrome as default and Firefox for creating/downloading my videos.
(such as )
Still try to steer clear of using the taskbar to search for stuff, but every once in a while,
I slip and use it....then cuss internally.
Well two days past the Reset, and 98% finished reinstalling everything,
Very pleased with results.
Everything is going great.
EXCEPT
File explorer is extremely slow.
And
When using it to view a folder, and trying to view a photo, I select Open With and everything freezes.
GROAN
I am the only person using my PC in my study.
My wife & kid (and cats) never use it. They have
their own tools/toys.
Instead of continually being prompted for admin permission
to perform tasks or run various programs, is it possible to
get Windows 10 to boot up already in Admin mode?
Seems easy.
Does not work.
I reset Google to my default search engine in Edge
Restart pc
Search from taskbar and it goes straight to Bing as search engine
What the heck
When clicking on file explorer shortcut, says no associated application
Starting it from the search bar, where the large images show up (File Explorer, Google Chrome, etc), nothing happens.
Reinstall without restsrt?
I have no install cd. Came with the PC.
I made a backup install on USB.
Not...
Tried. When restarting it asked for a password that I never wrote down/forgot/lost
At my age I'm fortunate to remember what I did ten minutes ago
Oh well.
Screwed again.
In task manager, I tried to run new task explorer.exe Nothing
Ran sfc /scannow Nothing
Entered a batch file to terminate and run explorer.exe Nothing
File explorer options through control panel are viewable/customizable but
no matter what is done...

So....now that everything is back up and running smoothly (24 hours and counting) I am wondering why Program Manager reared its head in Win 10.
Glitch? Throwback surprise?
