curse client is gone from start up. i already have windows firewall disabled. still no luck with the connection.

A few months back I uninstalled CurseClient (yes it was for WoW) but it still prompts me to download it everytime I log in. I also have been getting an error message upon startup about windows.NET or something. I assume this wasn't this issue since it started after I already had the issue.

ok disabling pc tools firewall did not resolve the issue. bonjour is already disabled. i also did the clean boot but nothing was found to cause the issue. thanks

correct, pings 4, 4 with 0 lost. no google home page when typing into browser in safe mode, both ie and mozilla work fine.

malwarebytes was actually unable to update. i had to save one to a disk from my laptop in order to update it. it found 2 things and removed them but no luck with the connection.

my file was exactly the same as your except for a blank line above this line: # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.

i did the uninstall/reinstall of the driver and that didnt work.

the ip did not work. should i try that other stuff you mentioned? thanks again i appreciate it.

Hi Again, thanks so much for the advice. This whole thing is driving me nuts. ok so when i went to roll back the driver, the button was greyed out. suggesting maybe that microsoft didnt install a driver that screwed this all up? i went to msinfo to get the driver info. i'm pretty sure...
