My Windows 7 computer died (motherboard dead) although I have the hard drive which I have connected to my new Windows 8 64 bit computer via a USB adaptor.
I used Windows Live Mail and I need to recover a large number of stored emails and contact details from the USB drive and can't figure out how to do it.
Even if I run Live Mail from the USB drive and then try to export I get the info from the new computer.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

You should be able to search the HDD as if it's a storage drive connected. Does it show up in "this PC"...aka my computer? If so, just double click on it and start searching.
