What Acer is selling
The Aspire X 16 uses the higher-end Core Ultra X9 388H. It also has a 2.8K OLED display and an 84 Wh battery. Notebookcheck's report says the laptop appears to be exclusive to the US, at $1,599 from B&H Photo Video and $1,649 from Acer.
Acer's own materials describe the model as AX16-I71M. The company calls it a thin-and-light premium laptop aimed at creative workflows and productivity. It runs Windows 11 Home and is marketed as a Copilot+ PC.
Launch timing: later than promised
Acer announced the laptop on May 29, 2026. It said the Aspire X 16 AI would reach North America in August 2026 and EMEA in July 2026. Notebookcheck says Acer initially claimed a July arrival across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Notebookcheck also says it can't find the laptop for sale in those regions yet.
My own read, which is not a claim from either source, is that November 3 is when the laptop got press attention. The evidence doesn't show it was the first day of sale. Acer's announcement also says exact specifications, prices and availability vary by region. If you're outside the US, check local listings before getting excited.

Acer's specification table also lists DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, 500-nit peak brightness and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio. Notebookcheck specifically describes the 500 nits as peak brightness in SDR mode. I'd attribute that SDR wording to Notebookcheck, because Acer's announcement table only gives "peak brightness 500 nits."
The 24-hour battery claim needs a footnote
Acer's figures are up to 24 hours of video playback, up to 19 hours of web browsing, and up to 14 hours in MobileMark 2030. These are manufacturer test results, not a promise for mixed daily use. Acer itself warns that real battery life may vary considerably with configuration, applications, power settings and display.
The panel behind the test is unclear. Acer's May announcement says the 24-hour result was measured on a model with a WQXGA+ panel. But Acer's current US product page says the 24-hour result used a WUXGA panel with the 84 Wh battery. The model being sold has a 2880 x 1800 OLED, and OLED panels typically draw more power than lower-resolution screens. So I wouldn't treat 24 hours as a verified figure for this exact OLED configuration. Wait for independent testing.
Memory and storage: a narrower offer than announced
The retail model is limited. Notebookcheck says the Aspire X 16 can currently be configured only with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD, although Acer earlier suggested up to 32 GB and 2 TB. Acer's announcement lists up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X and up to 2 TB through dual M.2 PCIe Gen4 SSD slots.
For buyers, there are two points to note:
- 16 GB is adequate for Windows 11 work, but it is tight for heavy creative workloads. Integrated Arc graphics also share system memory, so RAM matters more here than on a laptop with a discrete GPU.
- Dual M.2 slots suggest storage can be expanded later. I can't confirm from the evidence that this applies to the retail unit, so check before you rely on it.
How it compares with the Swift 16
Acer's Swift 16 AI also offers the X9 388H. VideoCardz reported a US model priced at $1,899.99 at Best Buy. That model had a touchscreen, 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Notebookcheck says the Aspire X 16 is 15% cheaper than the Swift 16 was at its US launch. I haven't independently verified that percentage. The Aspire's savings also come with half the RAM and storage, so it isn't a like-for-like discount.
Who should care
- Buyers who want a large, light OLED laptop with strong integrated graphics. The $1,599 to $1,649 price is attractive on paper.
- Anyone buying for battery life. Treat the 24-hour figure as a ceiling from a video-playback test.
- Copilot+ shoppers. Acer's page quotes up to 180 TOPS of total platform AI performance. That is a platform figure, not the NPU's alone. Copilot+ features also vary by device and market and may need updates.
Bottom line
The Aspire X 16 is a promising Panther Lake laptop at a competitive US price, with 16 GB and 512 GB as the trade-off. Its marquee 24-hour battery claim isn't clearly tied to the OLED model on sale. Independent battery and thermal testing will tell us whether it deserves the hype.
