What was announced
Thunder Lotus Games delayed the game from its previously planned 2026 window to 2027. It also announced a demo, now available for PC through Steam. That demo detail comes from Gematsu's report on the same news. The VGChartz report that prompted this story doesn't mention it. The full game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store.
No month or quarter has been given for 2027. The reports I reviewed don't give a reason for the delay, so any explanation would be guesswork. That includes theories about polish, certification or platform timing.
What changed since the 2025 announcement
Thunder Lotus revealed the game on June 8, 2025, during the Xbox Games Showcase. The studio's original announcement promised a 2026 release on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC and with Xbox Game Pass. I'm quoting that from the press release's wording.
The new reports list the same console platforms and the same PC storefronts. They add the Microsoft Store by name. Neither report mentions Xbox Game Pass. That doesn't mean Game Pass has been dropped. Neither report addresses it either way, and I wouldn't read anything into the omission. Players who were counting on a Game Pass launch should wait for the studio to say.
I also can't say whether the game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, cross-buy or cross-save. None of the reporting establishes that.
Why some official pages still say 2026
Several public pages still carried the old window when I checked.
- The Steam page lists a planned 2026 release.
- The Epic Games Store page lists 2026 as the availability year.
- Thunder Lotus's own game page still says "Coming in 2026!"
This is normal in the first hours after a delay. Storefront metadata usually lags behind announcements. The 2027 timing rests on the trade-press reports, which most likely draw on the studio's announcement. I couldn't open the studio's own post to confirm its wording. Until the store pages update, treat the 2027 window as reported rather than confirmed on those pages.
What the game is
Thunder Lotus describes the game as an action-adventure where you fight the ones you love. Players take the role of Shan, heiress of the Hemlock clan, who wields the God Sword Aesus. The studio's announced features are:
- A dual combat system that mixes swordfighting with choice-driven dialogue battles.
- A narrative skill tree tied to family connections and knowledge.
- Multiple endings shaped by player choices.
These are the studio's own design claims. No reviewer has tested them.
What to do now
- Wishlist the game on the store you plan to use. Wishlisting on Steam, Xbox or the Microsoft Store should notify you when a date is set.
- PC players can try the Steam demo, which is the one concrete change that arrived with the delay.
- Watch for a dated announcement and for any word on Game Pass inclusion.
Bottom line
Delays in the indie space are common. This one is a real postponement, not a cancellation or a platform change. The useful facts are that the game is now aimed at 2027, that it is still planned for Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Microsoft Store, and that a Steam demo is available now.
