An Xbox gaming setup with cloud-streamed game scenes appears amid a dramatic fantasy battlefield.
Battlefield 6 landed in the Game Pass catalog on October 13, alongside two day-one releases, Deep Dish Dungeon and Valor Mortis. The additions are real. The sales-chart framing in GameRant's coverage needs a correction, covered below.

An Xbox gaming setup with cloud-streamed game scenes appears amid a dramatic fantasy battlefield. What arrived on October 13

Microsoft's Xbox Wire Wave 1 announcement for October 2026 lists three games for October 13. All three are available through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

GamePlansPlatforms listed by MicrosoftDay one?
Battlefield 6Ultimate, PC Game PassCloud, Xbox Series X|S, PCNo (existing release)
Deep Dish DungeonUltimate, PC Game PassCloud, Xbox Series X|S, PCYes
Valor MortisUltimate, PC Game PassCloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, PCYes

Microsoft's announcement does not list any of the three on Game Pass Premium or Essential. GameRant says the two new releases may eventually reach Premium, but Microsoft's announcement doesn't confirm that, so treat it as speculation.

Microsoft's note on the "Handheld" label says it marks games optimized for handheld play. In this trio, only Valor Mortis carries it.

The three games

  • Battlefield 6 is an EA game, so it falls under EA Play. Microsoft says EA Play members can unlock the EA Play Deployment Pack and claim the Season 5 EA Play Pack. Ultimate subscribers get EA Play included, plus 10% off eligible EA digital purchases.
  • Deep Dish Dungeon is a survival-exploration game set in a hand-crafted, puzzle-filled dungeon. It has metroidvania and crafting elements and can be played solo or in online co-op.
  • Valor Mortis is a first-person action soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner. You play a former soldier of Napoleon's army who has been brought back from the dead.

GameRant gives specific start times for Deep Dish Dungeon and Valor Mortis (9 a.m. and 12 p.m. ET). Microsoft's announcement doesn't state those times, so I'm not repeating them. Check your own library if a title hasn't appeared yet.

The "best-selling game" claim needs a correction

GameRant says Battlefield 6 debuted as the best-selling U.S. game in November 2025 and held the top spot through year's end. That blends a monthly ranking with a full-year one.

What Circana's data shows:

  • October 2025: Battlefield 6 launched on October 10 and topped the monthly chart. It was already the biggest game in the franchise's history and 2025's best-selling game to date.
  • December 2025: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was December's best-selling game, NBA 2K26 ranked #2, and Battlefield 6 ranked #3.
  • Full year 2025: Battlefield 6 remained the best-selling game for the full calendar year, the first time the franchise has led the annual chart. NBA 2K26 ranked #2 and Borderlands 4 ranked #3 for the year.

The supportable claim is that Battlefield 6 was the top-selling U.S. game of 2025 by Circana's measure. I did not find evidence for the November top-five order GameRant gives, so I'm leaving it out. Circana ranks sales in the U.S. market. It doesn't measure player counts, review quality or subscription popularity.

Why the timing matters

EA's Season 5 roadmap, published October 9, says nothing here; see roadmap the season begins October 13. It brings two new maps, Vegas Strip and Area 51, plus a new REDSEC mode called Rapid Royale and four new weapons. EA also lists a Battlefield 6 Full Game Trial from October 15 to 19.

The Game Pass arrival and the season launch share a date, which makes sense for anyone considering a first download. The roadmap also says the Gauntlet mode leaves the game on October 13. The Game Pass listing itself doesn't promise anything beyond what Microsoft lists.

What else is coming this month

The three October 13 titles are only part of the month's schedule:

  • October 8: Echo Weaver, Forever Ago and Neon Abyss 2 arrived earlier in Wave 1. Neon Abyss 2 is also on Premium.
  • October 15: Bluey's Happy Snaps and Chained Beasts arrive.
  • October 16: Beyond These Stars arrives on PC.
  • October 15 departures: Microsoft lists A Plague Tale: Requiem, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Crime Scene Cleaner, Donut County, Evil West, Nova Roma, Pacific Drive, Superball and The Casting of Frank Stone as leaving the library.

I did not verify GameRant's review scores or its later release dates, so I'm not repeating them.

Practical takeaways

  1. Check your plan first. These three games need Ultimate or PC Game Pass, and Premium and Essential subscribers won't see them in the catalog.
  2. Pick your platform. Cloud play works for all three, but handheld optimization is listed only for Valor Mortis.
  3. Remember that Game Pass access is separate from sales rankings and review scores. A big seller on the shelf doesn't guarantee a good fit for your hardware or connection.

The availability details above are Microsoft's published information, not a guarantee of performance on your hardware or in your region.
