A fantastical seaside city of towering castles and bridges, with sailing ships, airships, and giant birds.
Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles has received what developer Tomas Sala calls its biggest Xbox update, bringing the console version into line with the PC development version. The October 1, 2026 release expands construction and fleet controls, alongside the arrival of Medieval Houses and Verne Bannerless on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

There is an important distinction for Windows players: both DLCs are available on PC, but both are not new PC releases. Wired Productions’ launch announcement identifies Medieval Houses as a new release for PC, PlayStation and Xbox, while Verne Bannerless was already available on PC and is now making its console debut. The publisher also specifically describes the accompanying free update as a console release.

Xbox catches up—but parity has limits

Sala’s Xbox Wire announcement frames this as closing a development gap, rather than introducing an entirely separate Xbox edition. That is the practical headline for returning console players: features developed on PC are reaching their version of the game.

However, the announcements provide no build numbers, download sizes or performance measurements. Feature alignment should not be mistaken for evidence of identical frame rates, graphics settings or platform behavior.

The release also separates the free changes from paid additions. According to Wired Productions, the console update includes upgradable surveyors, the heavily armed Behemoth, more flexible curved walls, selectable trade-route ships, revised wars and fleet formations, and Arbology towers. Players do not need to treat the two DLC packs as the price of admission to those base-game improvements.

More freedom—and a reason to protect captains

Sala describes curved walls without restrictions on type, length or angle, plus improvements to the water shader and waves. Arbology towers spawn trees, introducing greenery after the fictional War of the Tree.

Fleet management carries a sharper warning: players can sail ships on owned trade routes, but sinking one in combat removes its captain. Enemy forces can return to defend settlements, patrols can join battles, and fortresses can blockade trade routes. Escorts can either concentrate on the target nearest the cursor or select targets independently in a loose formation.

The practical takeaway is straightforward: do not use a valued captain’s ship as a disposable combat experiment. That recommendation follows from the announced loss mechanic; it is not a finding from independent playtesting.

What each DLC adds

Wired Productions distinguishes the two packs by purpose:

  • Medieval Houses: Six timber-framed houses for high-fantasy-style settlements. Its announcement also describes a square tower cap for towers connected to a fortress.
  • Verne Bannerless: The Bannerless Corsair warbird, Verne Missile ship and Piranha Fast airship. Its October 1 milestone is console availability, not its first PC release.

For Windows players who already own Verne Bannerless, the console launch should therefore not be confused with a second, newly announced PC expansion.

The useful bottom line

This is chiefly an Xbox catch-up release, with two distinct DLC milestones alongside it. The free update broadens construction and fleet management; Medieval Houses adds settlement decoration, while Verne Bannerless brings its existing PC units to consoles.

Sala’s closing remarks do not commit to another update or expansion. Nor does the announcement establish whether the revised combat is better balanced in practice. Those questions require more than a launch description—but the platform split and the captain-loss warning already give returning players something useful to know before setting sail.
