What shipped, and when
CD Projekt Red announced the update on October 20 alongside the Netflix premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The studio published the full patch notes on October 21, 2026, and described the update as free. It arrives on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 and Mac App Store versions following in the days after launch.
Two of the early reports need qualifying:
- The leak report. Notebookcheck's October 20 piece relied on a YouTuber's video that has since been made private, plus community summaries. It said the Switch 2 "isn't supported yet" for mods. The official notes, as relayed in the evidence I reviewed, list Switch 2 among the platforms for the mod feature, and Switch 2 is a later rollout platform for the update itself. Coverage disagrees on this point: Keengamer says the notes don't list Switch 2 for mods, while GameDaily and DSOGaming-style summaries of the same notes differ too. Treat Switch 2 mod availability as unsettled until the update lands there.
- The eXputer summary. It matches the official notes on the main features. Its headline mentions "new vendors," which refers to clothing vendors and the five Glamdoc cyberware shops.
Console mods: what you actually get
The notes describe cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io as "a first step." It lets players browse and install a selection of player-created mods from the in-game menu, and more mods will arrive over time. Heise reports the same framing: the studio calls it a first step, and only a small selection of mods will be available.
So Xbox players get a curated, in-game catalog. They do not get the full PC mod scene. Anything that depends on script extenders, file replacement or manual installs on PC is a separate matter. The notes don't promise that every community mod will appear, or that every mod will run on every platform.
The achievement trade-off
Modded saves get their own icon in the Load Game menu. The notes also say achievements and trophies cannot be earned on console from a modded save. The notes state this as a console restriction. They don't say it applies to PC, and they don't say it affects unmodded saves.
For Xbox owners chasing Gamerscore, the practical advice is simple:
- Keep a separate playthrough, or a separate save, for modded play.
- Check for the modded-save icon before you load, so you don't lose progress toward an achievement without noticing.
- Remember that the update groups saves by playthrough, which makes this separation easier to manage.
Console FOV slider
Consoles also get a field-of-view slider. Notebookcheck frames it as bringing the ports closer to the PC version. The notes don't give slider ranges.
Tech changes PC players will notice
The update's technology section is where the PC angle sits. The official notes list:
- DLSS 4.5: support for up to 6X Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and a second-generation Transformer Model.
- FSR changes: FSR 3 upscaling is removed. FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain, and there is a new toggle for FSR Anti-Lag 2.
- Samsung Odyssey 3D: glasses-free 3D on compatible monitors, with a Motion Comfort setting to balance depth against comfort.
- HDR: improved rendering for more accurate colors, brightness and contrast on compatible displays.
- Performance: general optimizations, including ray tracing and PS5 Pro improvements.
- Mac: MetalFX Frame Interpolation.
If you use FSR 3 upscaling today, expect to pick another option after updating. The notes name FSR 2.1 and FSR 4 as the remaining choices. Whether DLSS 4.5's 6X modes help or hurt your setup depends on your GPU and display. I can't verify that from the patch notes, and no performance testing is available yet.
Xbox Play Anywhere
Windows Central's headline says the game also shadow-dropped Xbox Play Anywhere support alongside the 2.5 details. I haven't confirmed the specifics of that change beyond the headline, so check the Xbox app or store listing for your own account.
Gameplay and cosmetic additions, briefly
These confirmed items are mostly cosmetic or content-focused:
- Dual-wielding: the Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, plus four auxiliary perks. It lets you use two Power pistols or revolvers at once. It does not cover every weapon type.
- Glamdocs: five of them let you reskin Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire or the Projectile Launch System. This changes appearance only.
- Quests: "Clampdown" is a prequel to Edgerunners 2. It unlocks after The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, and it rewards a five-piece King gear set. "Welcome to Paradise" unlocks after The Heist and Street Cred level 15.
- Extras: the HKGN 102.0 FM radio station, five new outfit sets, the NUS Infiltrator set, NPC hairstyles for V, 12 Minor Arcana Tarot cards, Trading Card Game photo frames, stash filters, and Twitch Drops skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech.
- Fixes: a Switch 2 "Save failed - insufficient space" error, PS5 HDR settings that had no effect, and a stuck Delamain cab, among others.
Bottom line
- Xbox gets official mod.io support, but only a selection of mods, and modded console saves can't earn achievements.
- PC players should look at the DLSS 4.5 and FSR changes, especially the removal of FSR 3 upscaling.
- Switch 2 timing and mod availability are still unclear, so wait for the platform's own rollout notes.
- Leak-era details were largely borne out by the official notes, but where the two disagree, go with CD Projekt Red's published list.
