iBUYPOWER's first mini-PC, the Pro AMD AI Halo, pairs AMD's newest Strix/Gorgon Halo silicon with workstation-grade networking. It is not shipping yet, and the company hasn't said exactly when it will.

A compact workstation sits beneath a monitor displaying a glowing neural network, with processor, memory, and AI icons in front. What was actually announced

iBUYPOWER announced on October 8, 2026 that it is expanding its Pro Workstation lineup with an all-new mini-PC, the iBUYPOWER Pro AMD AI Halo Mini PC, built on AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 Series processors. The company says it will be available in Q4 2026 starting at $3,999.

Headlines have drifted on this. Notebookcheck says the company "launched" the machine, and one smaller site claims it is "available for purchase now." The company's own wording is a reveal with a Q4 2026 purchase window. Treat it as announced, not shipping. The company has not given an exact date within the quarter.

Specifications

iBUYPOWER's published specification list covers the following:

  • Size: 70 × 198 × 200 mm. That works out to roughly 2.8 liters, according to iGeekphone's calculation.
  • OS: Windows 11. No edition is named, which is notable for a machine pitched as a workstation.
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, with integrated Radeon 8065S graphics and a 55 TOPS NPU.
  • Memory: 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000.
  • Storage: up to 8 TB across two M.2 2280 PCIe x4 slots and one M.2 2242/2280 PCIe slot. The 8 TB figure is a maximum, and the included SSD capacity isn't stated.
  • Networking: two 10G LAN ports, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
  • Front I/O: a combo audio jack, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, one 40 Gbps USB4 Type-C port and an SD card slot.
  • Rear I/O: a DC jack, a combo audio jack, two 10G LAN ports, one USB 2.0 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one 40 Gbps USB4 Type-C, DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 (32.4 Gbps) and HDMI 2.1 FRL (48 Gbps).

That adds up to six USB ports, two of them USB4, matching Notebookcheck's count.

The 128 GB question

Notebookcheck says iBUYPOWER hasn't clarified whether the $3,999 price includes 128 GB of RAM. The company's own spec list shows 128 GB of LPDDR5X as the memory configuration, and the press release says the system includes it. The price question is therefore mostly settled on the memory side.

The unclear part is storage and the rest of the configuration. The $3,999 is a "starting" price, and iBUYPOWER doesn't say which SSD it covers. Don't assume the full 8 TB is included at that price.

The processor

iBUYPOWER describes the chip as having 16 Zen 5 cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics with 40 Compute Units, 128 GB of unified memory and a 55 TOPS NPU. Notebookcheck's processor database describes it as a Gorgon Halo part introduced in May 2026, with clocks of 3.1 to 5.2 GHz. It lists the chip as a slightly higher-clocked take on the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 395.

Notebookcheck also notes that CPU performance should be very close to the 395, since the CPU cores run only about 100 MHz faster. That is a processor-level estimate. No benchmarks, thermals, noise measurements or sustained-power figures exist yet for this particular box.

On power, Notebookcheck says the chip can draw up to 120 W depending on the system and its TDP targets. iBUYPOWER hasn't published the power limit for this chassis. A 2.8-liter enclosure may well run the chip below its ceiling, so wait for reviews before assuming desktop-class sustained performance.

Memory for local AI

Notebookcheck says the system will match older Strix Halo mini-PCs in assigning up to 96 GB of RAM as VRAM. It also says the 128 GB ceiling is lower than the 192 GB offered by GMKtec and AceMagic alternatives. Wccftech points to ACEMAGIC's $6,499 Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 mini workstation as one such system.

Large unified memory pools matter for local AI because model weights must fit in memory the GPU can reach. 96 GB of GPU-addressable memory can hold fairly large quantized models. That is general industry reasoning, though, not a measured result for this machine. iBUYPOWER says users can run local AI inference "without using third-party cloud services," which is a marketing claim rather than a tested result.

Why IT admins and Windows users may care

  • Dual 10 GbE is rare in a box this size. It suits NAS-heavy workflows, lab networks and moving large datasets. The announcement doesn't mention link aggregation or any particular NIC features.
  • PRO silicon matters for managed fleets. iBUYPOWER cites security features and faster OS and driver deployment as enterprise-grade, and Notebookcheck notes that the PRO designation adds management and security features. The announcement doesn't spell out which of those features the finished system exposes.
  • Three M.2 slots allow multiple internal drives, but iBUYPOWER doesn't say whether all three can be fully populated without thermal or capacity limits.
  • Warranty: iBUYPOWER is a prebuilt-PC maker, and its PCs normally carry a three-year labor and parts warranty. The announcement doesn't confirm that this system has the same terms. It also doesn't say whether Micro Center service, which the company mentions for its other PCs, covers it.

Price context

At $3,999 the machine sits between Strix Halo systems that have been selling for roughly $3,500 and ACEMAGIC's $6,499 192 GB model. Those comparisons use different memory capacities, so they aren't like for like. The real differentiator is probably the brand's U.S. support and retail presence rather than raw specs, since the silicon is the same as in other Gorgon Halo mini-PCs.

Bottom line

  • The iBUYPOWER Pro AMD AI Halo Mini PC was announced on October 8, 2026, and is not yet on sale.
  • It is planned for Q4 2026 at $3,999 and up, with no firm date.
  • It has 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000, three M.2 slots, dual 10 GbE, two USB4 ports and Windows 11.
  • No independent benchmarks, thermals or acoustics exist yet.
  • Still unconfirmed: the included SSD, the Windows edition, the sustained power limit and the exact configuration tiers.

Anyone considering it for local AI or professional work should wait for hands-on reviews and a full configuration list before pre-committing.
